On Wednesday, May 27th, the Cordova Community Foundation was delighted to host our first virtual community workshop with Mediator and Attorney at Law, Molly Mulvaney, explaining the ins and outs of estate planning. More than a dozen Cordovans attended and learned about important resources that covered estate planning, power of attorney documents, and advanced health care directives.
Participants said the presentation was very informative, answered many questions, and demystified the sensitive topics of planning for one’s own death. Ms. Mulvaney provided a sample Jane Doe Will, as well as several other resource examples, including:
The CCF had planned to do an in-person estate planning workshop in the fall before Coronavirus mandates limited large gatherings. As such restrictions are lifted, CCF hopes to organize a workshop like this in the future. With so many people concerned about how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect themselves and their loved ones, it was very rewarding to be able to provide this information with the help of Ms. Mulvaney—who generously donated a significant portion of her professional time—to people in Cordova who want to consider their estate plans and their legacy.
